Our Roots in the Wilderness
The seeds of the Junglee collection were sown long ago in the fertile soil of Indian landscapes. Our founders, Gayatri and Simran, grew up surrounded by the vibrant tapestry of wildlife and domestic animals that are an integral part of life in India. This early encounter with the diversity of nature left an indelible mark on Simitri’s creative vision.
Beyond Animal Prints: The Birth of Our Motifs
When the idea for the Junglee collection took shape, we knew we wanted to go beyond traditional animal motifs. We set out to create original motifs that capture the soul of each creature we choose to represent.
One of our most challenging creations was the 'BagHeera' design, a striking 3D depiction of a black panther. Gayatri spent countless hours perfecting this creation. “It was like solving a complicated puzzle,” she recalls. “Every bead, every thread had to be perfectly placed for the Bagheera to come to life.”
Introduced in 2022, our Kaa Clutch features a handcrafted, glistening python motif around the clutch, with a hood acting as a unique closure. We’ve reimagined this popular design in unexpected hues for Spring 2024, reflecting our commitment to continued innovation.
A Jurassic Twist
The evolution of our Junglee collection took an unexpected turn when Gayatri's son became fascinated with dinosaurs. Inspired by his enthusiasm, we decided to include Jurassic elements in the line. This whimsical spirit extends to mythological creatures as well. Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, we designed the Drogon Clutch. Available in three colorways, black, bright orange and a checkered fabric, featuring a handcrafted jewel-toned and iridescent sequin dragon motif, the piece symbolizes strength and power with a hint of whimsy.
Each element of our Junglee collection is a canvas painted with the palette of nature. We also drew inspiration from the lush greenery of tropical forests, earthy shades of the mountains and vivid colors of exotic wild flowers from the northern valleys. This attention to color is evident in pieces like our printed clutch. We handpick prints from overstock or surplus fabric making these handbags even more exclusive and limited, because once the fabric is over the print is archived.
